I was attached temporarily to a Casual outfit of the 28th Division. The next day I was assigned to the 103rd Engineer Combat Bn., also of the 28th Division."

"When I was finally discharged I waited about an hour for Harold Risberg, a fellow who had been in the 603 and with whom I was to travel home. We headed for Hattiesburg after buying Greyhound bus tickets at the Separation Center."

Nussenbaum's route home from Hattiesburg, Mississippi to New York City. "After a little less than two days of riding, I finally got home. I arrived home, for good, on November 6, 1945, at 4:55 P.M."

In 1946, Harold Dahl sent a letter to the former members of the 603rd Engineers, promoting the idea of having a reunion dinner on June 18 in New York City.

Another reunion dinner was held September 27, 1946 in New York City.
