Dear Mom & Lou,

soldier sitting on back of a truck with a young woman

Harold with young woman on a truck

Have had three wonderful days here on pass.  Saw Hovel, Monique & her family and met some friends of Norman’s [Dahl], the Vicomptess de Mauolanc [spelling not clear] and Major Kreyberg of the Norwegian forces.  Also was one damn lucky G.I. to have a lovely American nurse all to myself.  Perfectly wonderful girl who thinks Harold is just about the grandest man on earth.  Lucky me!

We’ve been getting good news about the war & the terrible news of Mr. Roosevelt’s death.  Here in Paris the feeling of mourning is universal, both the French & the G.I. participating.

Will write more about it later -

Love
Harold
