This is the story of a wartime romance and a search through historical archives for an answer to a 75 year old mystery.

In times of war, love can blaze from a tiny spark to a full flame with astonishing speed. That’s what seemed to happen with Harold Dahl and Nancy Wooddell, a nurse at the hospital where his buddy Cleo Hovel was recovering from wounds sustained in Operation BOUZONVILLE. They met in April of 1945, and only a few weeks later, Harold told his family they were engaged and would marry as soon as the war was over. But only a few months later, Nancy was reassigned to a new location, and Harold never heard from her again.

We wanted to find out what happened to her in 1945, so we started to search for her. And we found a faint trail in North Carolina ...
