The Ghost Army Legacy Project is a 501(c)3 non-profit supported by individual contributions.The mission of the Ghost Army Legacy Project is to advocate and honor the legacy of the Ghost Army unit through domestic and global initiatives and relevant historical and cultural connections. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Erect monuments, recognition plates, etc. in training and service places reflective of Ghost Army history and action
  • Conduct educational outreach about the Ghost Army
  • Support the Ghost Army Museum exhibit managed by the National WWII Museum.
  • Assist families to understand and identify personal artifacts, photos, and documents of Ghost Army veterans
  • Contribute to the general study of deception from concepts the Ghost Army used and that have moved forward
  • Build veteran families' awareness that the GALP can serve as a conduit for Ghost Amy material donations to the WWII Museum
  • Maintain and curate the ghostarmy.org website
  • Facilitate get-togethers of Ghost Army families and friends.
  • Meet fundraising and legal requirements to continue GALP 501(c)3 status

Selected Accomplishments

  • Successfully lobbied Congress for seven years to secure a Congressional Gold Medal for the 23rd Headquarters Special Troops, and the 3133rd Signal Service Company
  • Organized Gold Medal Ceremony Washington DC in March, 2024
  • Held Gold Medal Celebrations for surviving veterans in 2022.
  • Erected two Ghost Army historical markers in Europe: one in Bettembourg, Luxembourg on the site of Operation Bettembourg, and one in Plabennac, France on the site of Operation Brest
  • Collaborated with the National World War II Museum on a major Ghost Army exhibit, displayed in New Orleans in 2020 and now traveling the country
  • Collected thousands of items in our Ghost Army archive, and donated them to the National World War II Museum
  • Contributed display materials and other items to Ghost Army exhibits hosted in locations across the country.
  • Conducted extensive media outreach that has resulted in stories by NPR, New York TImes, NBC, Fox News, BBC, CSPAN, Life, Smithsonian, Stars and Stripes and many others.
  • Worked with dozens of students on Ghost Army projects for National History Day, several of whom won national awards.
  • Created a content-rich website with histories, primary source documents, veteran interviews, and bios of hundreds of the Ghost Army soldiers
  • Organized Memorial Day commemorations at the graves of the four soldiers who died while serving in the 23rd Headquarters Special Troops
