How do I know my application has been received?
You should receive an email shortly after submitting, letting you know that your application has been received. If you don’t receive that email, contact us.
Can I discuss my application with someone there?
If you reach out through the Contact Page at Ghostarmy.org, we will get back to you within 48 hours.
What kind of qualifications do I need to apply?
Anyone is eligible to apply. You don’t need to be in an academic program, or have a master’s degree. We will consider applications from anyone. We are looking for professionally presented projects that will expand understanding of The Ghost Army.
Will GALP publicize projects?
GALP intends to publicize projects, both at the time the grant is awarded, and when the project is complete.
What are GALP's expectations for the dissemination of my project?
We are going to review this on a case by case basis. We expect to set up a page on our website where we can publish projects. We understand that some might not be available for this. For example, an author who is carrying out research that will be part of a book being published. Our hope is that we will be able to disseminate the results of the project in some form. We are not prepared to assist applicants in finding a venue for their project.
What are the GALP values to support my application?
The mission of the Ghost Army Legacy Project is to advocate and honor the legacy of the Ghost Army unit through domestic and global initiatives and relevant historical and cultural connections. Beyond the story of the WWII unit, we engage with the study of military deception — not just historically, but recognizing how the Ghost Army’s methods (visual deception, sonic trickery, etc.) influenced later concepts. We value memory, education, historical preservation, community, and recognition.
Can a team apply for a grant with a listed PI?
A team can absolutely apply for a grant. One person has to be the leader/front person for the project, and other members of the team must acknowledge their acceptance of that person as the team leader.
How will my grant be evaluated?
The following criteria will be assessed in evaluating grants.
- Project Purpose
- Project Approach
- Originality and Innovation
- Impact
- Background and experience of the grantee
- Ability to complete the grant on budget and schedule
- Organization and Clarity of the proposal
Will I receive feedback if my grant is not funded? If so, can I use that to reapply?
We can offer feedback for your grant after the process is done. You will have to specifically ask us for feedback. You can use that information in applying the following year.
Are staff salaries supported in the grant?
The grant does not cover staff salaries.
Can the GALP help me locate a mentor to complete my grant? If so, would the grant support a mentor stipend?
This is not something we are offering at this time.
